The Retreat at Felsted

Frederick Law Olmsted’s historic summer home

Felsted

The Harvard Club in Maine warmly invites you and your family to join fellow alumni

to a half-day retreat at Felsted on the west coast of Deer Isle.

Felsted was created for Frederick Law Olmsted (AM 1864 [hon], LLD 1893 [hon])

— the designer of Central Park in New York and the Emerald Necklace in Boston —

by William Ralph Emerson in 1896  (HCM was already 18 years old then!).

It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It was the setting for two movies: Mel Gibson’s Man Without a Face (1993), and Finding Home (2003).

It is also on the cover of Summer Houses by the Sea: The Shingle Style.

It offers sweeping views of North Haven, the Camden Hills, and the Eagle Island lighthouse,

and over 600 feet of shoreline along East Penobscot Bay with pink granite ledges and a private beach.

The covered porch sits high over the ocean to watch the sunset in the evenings.

It is the perfect spot to launch your kayaks or enjoy swimming and beach combing.

Enjoy a summer day by the sea with family!

Our generous host is Meredith Richardson (AB ’88), who is also on our Board of Directors.
