From the President...

Welcome to the Harvard Club in Maine!

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Harvard Club in Maine!

Our purpose is to foster a strong and friendly community of Harvard alums in the Great State of Maine, both year-round residents and “summer people.” We work to provide a variety of opportunities for you to meet up (either in person or sometimes virtually) and connect with each other as well as with Harvard itself.

We have a robust schedule of events each year, some of which are annual favorites. For example,  each July we host our perennially popular cruise and picnic outing in Casco Bay; in late September we meet for our annual “Welcome to Maine for New and Old Alums” event at a local brewery; in November we watch The Game together with our friends from the Yale Club; in December we host an annual holiday party; in late February/early March we have a family-friendly winter outing; and in May or June our annual meeting and dinner! In addition, we will occasionally collaborate with other Harvard Clubs to host online lectures by Harvard professors on a variety of subjects.

Another great way to become more involved with the Club is to serve as an interviewer for Maine applicants to the College. The Schools and Scholarships Committee is always looking for alumni who are interested in participating in this exciting and important duty of the Club. Please reach out if you think you might be a good fit!

We are all enriched by the company of new alums from any and all of Harvard’s schools, not just the College. In fact, I myself received a master’s degree from the Extension School while working my day job as an editor/writer for President Neil Rudenstine! So whatever your affiliation is, if you love Harvard as we do, we hope you will become a member. Dues are only $25 per year ($15 for recent graduates and free for current students), and members are entitled to discounts at any events where there is a fee.

I hope to see you very soon!

With all best wishes,

Andrea Stanley Hester
